All vehicles built today are equipped with a “drive-by-wire” electronic throttle. One of the biggest consumer complaints has been poor throttle response and lag, especially in performance or racing applications. JMS PedalMAX® is a digital microprocessor-controlled device with advanced designed to improve the responsiveness on almost any common car, truck or SUV. Small displacement turbo or larger turbo-diesel trucks get a huge boost in on-throttle performance.

Extended PedalMAX® benefits include, seamless and warranty-friendly installation, advanced user throttle control via the included control knob, and the device requires no aftermarket OBD-II tuning or programming. This innovative new product can also be stacked or used in conjunction with common aftermarket OBD-II programmers and monitors.

PedalMAX® features exclusive JMS digital technology housed in a proprietary sealed enclosure, and comes complete with plug and play wiring harness using OEM connectors for quick installation. The complete system is designed to be used on many different gas or diesel cars, trucks and SUVs regardless of engine size and will improve the driving experience significantly while adding improved low and mid-range performance.


“PedalMAX is basically a voltage or pulse width conditioning device.  Not necessarily an amplifier, but similar.  We don’t rely on cheap resistors or other components, we use a multi-channel digital device to condition input and output signals, but also filter signals.  So it’s basically a small computer that plugs into the accelerator pedal and modifies that input signal to the ECU.  We use a standard “K-factor” applied to the voltage or pulse width to increase the responsiveness.  Effectively, when the vehicle is at idle it’s at a stock voltage output, but as you increase pedal input it modifies the output over the first 80% of the range.  The net effect is that when the pedal is at 60-70% input the throttle is wide open with the control knob set at 100%.  The control knob allows you to modify the output values to decrease the relative sensitivity, so if the knob is at 50% the throttle will be wide open at 85% pedal input.  The programming is also relatively aggressive, that’s why we allow you to adjust it on the fly!  Removing turbo or supercharge lag is a complete side-effect or anomaly, the aggressiveness of pedal input forces the control system to respond much quicker and produce power at a lower RPM.  On a RZR 1000 Turbo, the device at 100% can hit boost so hard on dry pavement that it can break the bead on the tires…  For instance, you use a Rotrex supercharge kit, they have lag by design, so PedalMAX will drive past the lag by increasing RPM rate in a shorter time period and just kill the rear tire on command.

We’re not the first to test this theory in the market…  The biggest issues are ingress protection and components.  The product we developed for Polaris vehicles is based on a product we sell to Ford that’s used on 2018+ Mustangs and F-150 trucks with Ford Performance supercharger systems.  It’s required to pass a 21-point DVPR, Level 4 PPAP, have an ingress protection of rating IP67+ (the highest rating for aerospace is IP69), and it has to be approved for use under hood of a production vehicle with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty.  It’s a very expensive product to build.  No question it’s the most high-tech product of it’s kind and is complete over-kill for the aftermarket, but we cannot build it any other way since the technology is shared with Ford, GM and FCA.  In Australia, Dodge brand actually owns the distribution rights to PedalMAX for FCA vehicles.  It’s the real deal from a pure engineering standpoint.  We use solid gold pins on our connectors, no one in our industry does that…”

    This product does exactly what it says it does. A big difference in the performance. I set it to 100% and it pushed me back into my seat when I took off. Even smoked the rear tire starting off. I now have it set at about 60% and have great pickup and go. I would have given it 5 Stars except for these issues. 1. The description says it installs in under 30 minutes but it took me about 3 hours to install and it is hard to connect it to the gas pedal wiring. 2. The instruction are vague as to where to run the wiring for the module. You have to use the picture in the instructions to find out where to run the wiring. 3. The instructions do not tell you exactly where to wire the 12 volt source cable to. So I ran it through the opening underneath the gas pedal back to the battery and put it on the positive side of the battery. 4.The instructions tell you that there is a Green led light that is suppose to come on once you have started the vehicle if the module is installed correctly and it is working properly. There is noGreen led light on the module for the polaris slingshot. The only way to know if it is working is to take it out for a drive after installing it. You will know exactly if it is working after driving your slingshot.
    They need to come up with instruction for the slingshot only with the correct instruction of how to properly install it on a slingshot.

    Other than the above install issues this is a great improvement for the slingshot. So if you want more takeoff power and performance this is an inexpensive item to get to have that.

    I just installed the JMS Pedalmax. It takes longer than the instructions on states ” This amazing addition to your slingshot is Plug-and-play and installs in under 30 minutes!!!”. Plan on !.5 to 2 hours. Need to disconnect battery, run 12 volt wire from module to battery, run wires for adjustment knob, install PNP connectors on accelerator, and connect battery. The lights that are talked about in the instructions are on the back side of module and are very very small.

    Now for the test drive, WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Play with the control knob. I haven’t broken traction but it wouldn’t take much.

    This has been the single mod that I have installed that has made the largest improvement for the money..

    On a side note I called JMS and talked to them about adding 18″ to the harness for different module locations. Also you will need some double sided tape to secure the control knob.

    I just installed my pedalMax on my turbocharged Slingshot with an ECU tune. Here is what I found out. The instructions show a location under the hood for the module, but it is shown upside down, in this position you will never see the leds mentioned in these reviews or instructions. The leds are hidden under a sticker. You will see the small sticker that reads JMS, it is under this sticker to the right along the entire edge, not the square sticker shown in the instructions. It did take longer than 30 minutes, but I already had my own 12Volt battery wire under the hood witch I attached too. So maybe 45 minutes. I still disconnected the battery per the instructions. Now for the test, after mounting the module the right way, I see the leds, there are three, one green and the other blue. The middle led did not come on, so not sure of color. You are looking for a solid green led, and depending on the switch position the blue will be solid if turned off. Slow flash up to 50% and quick flashing over 50 % again green is always solid. Now the road test, I started at 100%, I got on the throttle a bit and the bike was jerking badly from 1st to second gear, this setting no good for me. So I backed it down until it didn’t jerk, and that was around 60%. I called Brad from JMS, and he told me that it is possible the tune I have is the issue. I tend to agree with him, the throttle is way to sensitive at over 70% but there is still plenty of response from the PedalMax at 60%. I also asked him if the module is waterproof, And he said yes. I will continue testing this module and see if anything else happens.

    The Pedalmax is what I was looking for. It actually works like they advertise. I am very happy with how easy it is to install and the increased performance. Well worth the money. I like that I can control it even while driving. I would recommend this to anyone.

    I was very sceptical about this. But I must say I’m very pleased with the results. I’m currently looking for a new rear tire because now I’m at the wear bar of my tire. The top end is easier to reach now hit 130mph now I’m aiming for the 220mph.

    Definitely adds a bit of push to the SS! You can feel the difference while turning the knob and slightly accelerating at the same time. More responsive and if you can imagine, even more fun to drive!! To those who have to attach the extra wire to the battery just “because it was shipped with the kit” – DON’T!!! It is not necessary – the unit works great without the green light that you won’t be able to see anyways! – don’t waste your time!! In addition to the enclosed instructions, here’s a couple of recommendations that will help. 1) DON’T HOOK UP THE EXTRA WIRE TO THE BATTERY!! 2) When connecting the supplied “Y” connection, the existing pedal connector will attach easily with just a bit of downward force – wait for a click. I used a channellock straight jaw tongue and groove plier to gently force the second connection together. Very simple but be careful as you don’t want to pinch the wires – only the plastic housing. Again, wait for the click. 3) Position the PedalMax unit on the same wall on the flat space left of the accelerator and behind the brake. Drill 2 holes with a 1/8″ bit to align with the holes of the unit. DO NOT RUN THE BIT ALL THE WAY THROUGH – JUST CAREFULLY PUNCTURE THE WALL. Use one of the zip ties supplied to attach the unit to the wall through the drilled holes. 4) Position the rheostat switch on the right drivers side leg well – across from the ignition key. This allows easy access, keeps it out of the weather, and allows the extra cable to be stowed in the stereo cavity. I used double sided outdoor rated clear 3M tape for this part. 5) DON’T HOOK UP THE EXTRA WIRE TO THE BATTERY!! – Just sayin’!

    All of this took just over 30 minutes. With a little planning, it can be done efficiently! Good luck and enjoy!!
